Vegan Food Guide – Phuket, Thailand

Out of all are destinations in Thailand, we ended up staying in Phuket the longest. Because of this, we were able to spend more time searching for some amazing vegan food. In total, we were in Phuket for about twelve days over the course of three separate trips. We flew in and out of the Phuket airport and went back to work with a hotel in between. Unfortunately, for part of our time in Phuket, we were recovering from food poisoning, but the teas we had at Eat Greens really helped us feel better. Once we recovered, and finally were able to eat again, it was nice to find a few great and healthy restaurants. There are only two, but these are two of the best in Thailand. We had smoothies and other foods from other restaurants here and there, but none of them really stuck out to us. The two restaurants were so good, we just had to keep going back!

Vegan Table – Phuket Old Town
Initially, this was the best restaurant we had gone to in Thailand. There is a lot of vegan and gluten-free restaurants to choose from, but not many use alternative ingredients to mimic nonvegan meals. It is definitely too nice to think you’re eating one of your favorite childhood meals. That meal for me is macaroni and cheese. Vegan Table served gluten-free cashew mac and cheese that was so good, and even better than the real thing. Hands down the best vegan of mac n cheese I’ve ever had! They also had gluten-free pesto pasta and hummus with vegetables that I really enjoyed as well. The owner is so nice and will let you know about all the ingredients they use if you ask. Highly recommend Vegan Table.

Eat Greens – Central Phuket Mall
Now time for our favorite Thailand restaurant and maybe even our favorite we’ve ever been to ever. I say “our” because even Sean, a non-vegan, completely agreed. Our first time there, we started our meal with freshly brewed ginger tea. We weren’t feeling too great in the 3 days prior, so the tea really helped our stomach. We then shared a smoothie bowl, which was more than big enough for both of us to share. It was pineapple flavored with fresh fruit on top and was so tasty. We also tried a couple of other smoothie bowls in our following visits, and they just kept getting better each time.

Our favorite nonsmoothie bowl there, we may have gotten 4 different times. The sweet potato bowls. Who knew the world’s greatest salad bowl would be on the ground floor of a mall in Phuket? We altered what was on the menu a bit and the sweet potato bowl ended up being, lettuce, sweet potato, rice, chickpeas, and a tomato cashew dressing. I’m still dreaming of that salad bowl. Sean also got the same meal in a wrap instead of a bowl one of the times. He said it was the greatest wrap he’s ever had.

That wasn’t it. They even had allergen-friendly desserts for all the main food allergies. The desserts were a real treat. We loved the cookies and cream, red velvet, and mint bars. A great way to cap off an amazing meal. We may have to get a flight back to Phuket in the future literally just to go back to this restaurant.
